About Delaware City Day
Delaware City Day is an annual community celebration in Delaware City, Delaware, honoring the town’s historic architecture, waterfront setting, and small-town culture. Held since 1980, the family-friendly event supports appreciation and continued preservation of Delaware City’s place in history. Festivities take place in historic Delaware City, centered on Battery Park along the waterfront at the foot of Clinton Street, with views of Fort Delaware and the Delaware River.
The program includes a schedule of activities, a parade, vendors, and fireworks at dusk, described by the organizers as the best in Delaware. The event also features local businesses and provides information to help visitors plan, including maps and parking details. Delaware City Day is alcohol-free, and organizers ask attendees to leave pets at home for their safety and the comfort of the crowds.
In 2026, the celebration is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, and will include special events marking Delaware City’s bicentennial. Visitors can also download the Delaware City Day app through the Apple App Store or Google Play
