About Delphi Consortium
The Delphi Consortium for Geo-Imaging is a research consortium led by scientists at Delft University of Technology, bringing together international companies in the geo-energy and geo-technical sectors. Founded in the early 1980s, it develops geophysical imaging methods that extract more information from limited data and reveal subsurface structure and properties. Its research spans seismic acquisition and preprocessing, structural imaging, velocity estimation, reservoir characterization and monitoring.
Projects explore optimized survey design, deblending, source and receiver deghosting, and the use of seismic multiples in full-wavefield migration and joint migration inversion. The consortium also investigates broadband seismic inversion, reservoir-property estimation, monitoring, and joint interpretation of seismic and electromagnetic data. Its work supports applications including subsurface hydrogen and carbon dioxide storage, geothermal energy, wind-farm site characterization, and engineering investigations.
Delphi shares its research through consortium meetings, publications and a Masterclass for sponsors, featuring selected topics and practical exercises. By combining scientific research with collaboration across industry, the consortium aims to advance reliable geo-imaging for evolving energy and subsurface challenges.
