Demenz Partner

Initiative Demenz Partner is a nationwide awareness initiative of the Deutsche Alzheimer Gesellschaft e. V., helping people develop a better understanding of dementia and how to support those affected. It invites individuals and organisations to take part in free, accessible learning opportunities, including 90-minute introductory courses held locally, online seminars and self-paced e-learning.

Participants learn what dementia is, how it can affect a person’s abilities and family life, and how to communicate respectfully and offer practical support to people with dementia and their relatives. The initiative also provides educational films, including resources on communication and on addressing conflicts around driving and dementia. Individuals can join by taking a course, while organisations that offer introductory dementia training can register to become course providers and extend the initiative to their participants.

Course materials are supplied free of charge. Through its courses, online resources and public information, Demenz Partner aims to reduce stigma and make dementia more widely understood in everyday settings, including families, neighbourhoods and workplaces
