About Democratic Security Institute
Welcome to the Democratic Security Institute (DSI). We are an independent and non-partisan thinktank based in Tbilisi, Georgia, dedicated to promoting democratic security in the countries of Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. Our team consists of passionate policy and civil society professionals who firmly believe in the power of democracy to bring security, social justice, and prosperity to people's lives.
Established in 2022 as a separate organization, DSI grew out of the Eurasia Democratic Security Network (EDSN) project. Our core mission is to advocate for the concept of democratic security, emphasizing the interconnectedness of democracy, security, and social justice. Through our EDSN project, we have been running a fellowship since 2017 for policy professionals interested in democratic security in the region.
At DSI, we go beyond traditional think tanks by striving to be a nursery for innovative democratic policy ideas. Our goal is to bridge the gap between idea-makers and political practitioners, advocating for and implementing real democratic policy changes on the ground. We firmly believe in the radical democratization of every aspect of society, from the ballot box to education and healthcare systems, foreign policy, and workplaces.
We tirelessly advocate for institutional reforms to make them more democratic and accountable, recognizing that democracy itself is the strongest and most reliable means to bolster the security of the region. Our vision is for every country in the region, from Moldova to Turkmenistan, to join the club of democratic nations. Join us in our pursuit of democratic security, where we view democracy not just as desirable, but as of existential importance to the people of the region.
Together, we can create a more secure and prosperous Eurasia
