Dental Vet

The Dental Vet is a veterinary practice in Canterbury, New Zealand, dedicated to the dental health and overall wellbeing of horses. Founded by veterinarian Marieke van den Enden in 2013, the practice provides personalised equine dental care, from routine examinations and preventive care to advanced procedures, diagnostic imaging and surgery. Its services also include veterinary referrals and recovery and rehabilitation support.

Each appointment begins with a history and physical examination to assess the horse as a whole. Sedation, specialist lighting and examination equipment, including a dental endoscope, help Marieke evaluate teeth, gums and other soft tissues. As a veterinary practice, Dental Vet can also provide services such as vaccinations, blood tests and medication, helping address related health needs during a dental visit.

Treatments take place at a purpose-built clinical dental hospital, equipped with Porta-Safe horse stocks, recovery stables, yards and paddocks. The practice cares for performance and pleasure horses, as well as minis, donkeys and zoo animals. Marieke also shares her expertise through clinics, workshops and continuing education for veterinarians.
