The Comité Nacional para le Celebrazioni del Centenario della Nascita di Giovanni Sartori is dedicated to honoring the influential sociologist and political scientist Giovanni Sartori, born in Florence in 1924. Recognized as the father of political science in Italy, Sartori taught at prestigious institutions including Stanford and Columbia University, and contributed significantly to political theory through his extensive writings. His notable works include Democrazia e definizioni, Homo videns, and La democrazia in trenta lezioni, among others.

Established by a decree from the Minister of Culture in February 2024, this committee aims to remember Sartori's legacy, deepen knowledge of his contributions, and promote discussions surrounding his ideas on democracy, pluralism, and political systems. The committee will facilitate various initiatives, such as events and publications, that celebrate his life and work. It also oversees scholarships related to his studies, providing resources to foster further exploration of political science in his spirit. The committee operates from the Istituto dell’Enciclopedia Italiana Treccani in Rome.
