De ouwe tol

De Ouwe Tol is a small-scale care farm on the outskirts of Bergen op Zoom, near Hoogerheide, offering welcoming daytime activities in a rural setting. Founded by Emmy Franken and Lizet van Meel, the farm brings together their experience in social support, nursing and care to provide personal attention and meaningful daily routines. Its approach is inclusive: people of different ages, with or without disabilities, are encouraged to participate, build connections and contribute in ways that suit their abilities.

Activities take place across a spacious garden and include gardening, caring for animals, creative projects, walking and cooking with produce from the farm’s own garden. Participants can also help develop the vegetable garden and improve animal shelters, while bringing forward their own ideas. The grounds include seating areas, a pond and a small orchard, with access suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and walkers. Days begin with coffee or tea and include a shared lunch.
