ANED Pordenone is the local section of the National Association of Former Deportees in Nazi Camps, a nonprofit association founded by survivors of Nazi persecution and relatives of those who died in the camps. Established through the initiative of former deportee Piero Maieron, the section works to preserve and share the history and memory of deportation, Nazi occupation and persecution during the Second World War. Its activities include collecting and making testimonies available to the community, promoting awareness of significant memorial sites, and delivering educational programs for students.
These programs include lessons, workshops, practical activities and study trips that encourage historical understanding and active citizenship. The association also maintains an online audio library, launched in 2020, featuring readings of accounts and publications about deportation, Italian military internees, Italian camps and Nazi-Fascist persecution. By safeguarding materials that may otherwise be lost, ANED Pordenone aims to pass on firsthand experiences and help future generations recognize intolerance, racism and the risks of indifference.
