Its work spans community, territorial, economic and environmental challenges, with a focus on practical initiatives and public discussion. The organization reports more than 200 projects over the past decade, over 600 published titles, and participation in more than 50 national and international networks and consortia.

desco’s areas of work include housing and territorial management, vulnerability and disaster risk; citizenship, inclusion and participation; natural resource management and climate change; gender equity and empowerment; rural production and local economic development; and food security, nutrition and the right to food. Its activities include implementing development projects, producing research and publications, and providing consultancy services. The organization also offers diploma programs and shares analysis through publications such as Perú Hoy and Quehacer, alongside commentary, news and event recordings. Through these initiatives, desco connects research, training and project experience to inform debate and promote proposals related to development in Peru.
