The Deutsche Stiftung zur Erforschung von Krebskrankheiten (DeSEK) is a German foundation dedicated to supporting cancer research. Established in 2008, it works toward a future in which cancers can be treated more effectively and, ultimately, prevented. The foundation focuses primarily on fundamental research into how cancer cells develop, what encourages tumour growth, and how cancer cells respond to different treatments. By supporting this work, DeSEK aims to help enable new approaches to cancer prevention and diagnosis, as well as more effective therapies.
DeSEK also informs the public about cancer research and ways to contribute. Its activities include sharing news about funded projects, highlighting research partnerships, and organising discussions on topics such as sport during and after cancer treatment. Individuals and businesses can support its work through one-time or recurring donations, with options including bank transfer, PayPal and direct debit. The foundation also invites supporters to subscribe to its newsletter and take part in awareness initiatives.
