Destiny’s Ride Therapeutic Program Inc.

Destiny’s Ride Therapeutic Program, Inc. is a nonprofit adaptive and therapeutic horseback riding program based at a private farm in Kinderhook, New York. Founded in 2009 by occupational therapist and certified therapeutic riding instructor Jodie O’Connell-Ponkos, the organization draws on her professional experience and personal connection to horses to support riders of all ages and abilities. Its mission is “Enriching the Lives of Many, Step by Step,” with an emphasis on healing through horses.

The program offers horseback riding classes, therapeutic riding sessions, occupational therapy-focused private lessons, and individualized riding programs. Sessions combine horsemanship with occupational therapy principles, helping participants work toward personal goals in a safe, supportive environment. Lessons are organized into eight-week sessions to encourage consistent progress, confidence, independence, and enjoyment both in and out of the saddle. Destiny’s Ride aims to make its program intimate and personalized, adapting instruction to riders’ backgrounds and abilities.
