Destomono is a privacy-first search brand built around #mono, a Chrome extension that reroutes selected searches to a separate search engine. Users type the #mono tag directly before a query in the browser’s address bar, and the tagged search is sent to an engine that requires no account and, according to Destomono, does not create profiles or retain a record of the search. The extension is intended for occasional queries users prefer not to associate with their usual search history, such as health questions, gift research, or other personal topics.

It works within the address bar without opening a separate app, and each tagged search is treated as an independent request rather than part of a linked search thread. Destomono says installation requires no signup or setup screen, costs nothing, and has no subscription, premium tier, or expiring trial. The brand also states that the extension cannot read web pages, monitor tabs, or view browsing history, and that it can be removed at any time through Chrome’s extensions settings
