About Detroit Dog Rescue
Detroit Dog Rescue, founded in 2011, is Detroit's first no-kill shelter dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming the dogs of Detroit. With a stray dog epidemic in the city, DDR aims to make a difference one dog at a time. They have helped between 80 to 120 dogs at any given time, providing them with the care and training needed to become adoptable.
In 2014, Detroit Dog Rescue made history by opening the first no-kill shelter in the City of Detroit, ensuring that every dog they rescue has a chance at a loving home. Known for their commitment to taking in animals that others may deem unadoptable, DDR invests the time and resources to rehabilitate and find suitable forever homes for these dogs. Through their various programs, such as Enrichment Day and Outreach & Assistance, DDR strives to create a compassionate community that promotes responsible pet ownership and advocates for the welfare of dogs.
