Deutsches Textarchiv (DTA) is a brand that provides a comprehensive platform for accessing a wide range of German-language texts across disciplines and genres. With a focus on creating a reference corpus for modern German, the core of the DTA is a collection of around 1500 titles. This carefully curated selection spans from the early 17th century to the early 20th century, ensuring a balanced representation of text types and maintaining the original language and structure during transcription.
In addition to the core corpus, the DTA has expanded its collection by incorporating approximately 4,000 digitized historical sources from external projects. Currently, the DTA serves as a repository for structured historical texts within the framework of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) consortium Text+. It also provides historical text corpora for the Word History Digital project, which is part of the Center for Digital Lexicography of the German Language.
The texts are freely accessible and enriched with computational linguistic methods, allowing for efficient search and analysis. So, whether you're a linguistics scholar, researcher or language enthusiast, the DTA offers a valuable resource for exploring and studying German language and culture throughout history
