Interreg Deutschland-Nederland is a European cross-border cooperation programme supporting the innovative, green, social and citizen-focused development of the German-Dutch border region. Part of the EU’s Interreg initiative, it helps partners in both countries work together to address shared challenges, reduce barriers and strengthen regional development. The programme offers funding and advice for cross-border projects, alongside guidance on applying, deadlines, project types and partnership opportunities.
Its 2021–2027 funding period supports projects that can continue through 2029, with around €225 million in European Regional Development Fund contributions and a total budget of approximately €465 million, including partner funding. Priorities include research and innovation, sustainable growth for small and medium-sized businesses, climate adaptation, the circular economy, inclusive employment, education and healthcare, and better public cooperation. The programme also supports small-scale initiatives through a small projects fund and identifies projects of strategic importance for the wider region.
