De Wien

Vastelaovesvereiniging De Wien is a carnival association based in Venlo, the Netherlands, dedicated to celebrating and sustaining local Vastelaovend traditions. Its activities are organized by a board, a Council of Eleven, seasonal carnival leaders and several committees, including teams for events, youth, music, sponsorship and technical support. The association brings members and the wider community together through a year-round programme of gatherings and celebrations.

A highlight is the Wiener Leedjes Festival, where performers present original carnival songs and winners are selected by juries and the audience. De Wien also organizes a prince’s gala, ceremonial flag-raising and medal presentation, and activities featuring its youth trio.
