About American Dexter Cattle Association
The American Dexter Cattle Association (ADCA) has been serving its members since 1957. This brand focuses on preserving and promoting the Dexter cattle breed, which originated in the Kerry region of southwestern Ireland. The Dexters were traditionally owned by small landholders and were well-suited to the challenging Irish landscape.
Today, Dexters are highly valued for their hardy and thrifty characteristics. They are known for their versatility, as they excel in beef production, milk production, and as draft animals on American farms and ranches. With their low rate of calving difficulties and high fertility rate, Dexters make excellent breeding animals.
These compact cattle typically range in height from 34-46 inches for cows and 36-50 inches for bulls. They come in three colors: black, red, and dun, with solid colors being the norm. Dexter bulls have an even temperament and are easy to handle, while Dexter cows display excellent maternal instincts.
If you're interested in joining the ADCA, you can become a member through their website and access various resources and services they offer
