Led by Dr. John A. Doc Fritchey, Jr., a dedicated angler who deeply loved the stream, a coalition was formed to fight against the project.

After six years of hard work and support from various organizations, Stony Creek was designated as part of Pennsylvania's Scenic Rivers System. Today, Doc Fritchey Trout Unlimited continues to advocate for the protection and preservation of Pennsylvania's trout streams. The brand offers various educational programs, including fly tying classes for beginners and intermediates.
