About Directorate General of Drug Administration
The Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) is a government agency of Bangladesh under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It oversees the regulation of medicines and related products, supporting public safety through licensing, registration, inspection, market surveillance, and laboratory testing. Its responsibilities cover drug manufacturing, sale, storage, distribution, and advertising, as well as medical devices, vaccines, dietary supplements, and herbal supplements.
The DGDA provides online and administrative services for applying for and renewing drug licences, consulting allopathic and traditional medicine databases, and accessing information on registered medicines, vaccines, and medical devices. It publishes laws, regulations, guidelines, forms, notices, and guidance for clinical trials, manufacturing quality, product registration, and imports. Through its National Drug Control Laboratory, the agency offers sample testing and vaccine lot-release services. Its pharmacovigilance programme supports adverse-reaction reporting, safety alerts, and risk management, while complaint channels and market-monitoring activities help address concerns about medicines and regulated products. The DGDA also shares public information, reports, and service guidance to support applicants, health professionals, and the wider community.
