DGGV

The German Geological Society (DGGV) is a professional and public-facing organization dedicated to advancing geoscience and making knowledge of the Earth accessible to all. It brings together geoscientists across disciplines through specialist sections, working groups, and the Young DGGV network, which welcomes students, early-career professionals, doctoral researchers, and postdoctoral scholars. The society shares research and educational resources through publications including ZDGG, IJES, SDGG, EDGG, GMit, and Geohistorische Blätter, as well as a GeoShop and digital learning materials.

Its activities help people experience geology through information on geotopes, geoparks, geological and mining trails, field trips, webinars, courses, and public events such as the annual Day of Geotopes. DGGV also hosts conferences and seminars, including the Sedimentology. Lunch webinar series, and promotes geological heritage and public engagement.

Members can access a personal online account and receive Geowissenschaftliche Mitteilungen. The organization supports knowledge-sharing through its library, geological archives, awards, and opportunities for collaboration, connecting scientific research with education, professional exchange, and appreciation of Earth’s history
