Max Weber Stiftung

The Max Weber Stiftung (MWS) is a significant player in the field of German humanities research abroad, operating with an annual budget of approximately €48 million. Functioning as an autonomous part of Germany's foreign cultural and educational policy, the foundation is primarily funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. MWS supports scholarly activities through eleven institutes located worldwide, including Paris, London, Moscow, and Tokyo, focusing on a diverse array of research themes.

The foundation promotes scientific freedom and the quality of inquiry, encompassing a variety of projects and fellowships such as the Gerald D. Feldman travel grants and Bloch-Weber fellowships.
