About DGKJ
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kinder- und Jugendmedizin e.V. (DGKJ) is Germany’s scientific professional society for paediatrics, representing more than 20,000 paediatricians. Its central aim is to support the best possible healthcare for children and young people. The DGKJ represents paediatric medicine among professional communities, in politics and in public life, and works to promote research, develop guidance and advance children’s health.
The society provides professional resources including clinical guidelines, scientific statements, publications and information on paediatric research. It also offers events and continuing education for healthcare professionals, alongside specialist training resources and access to paediatric journals. Members can receive the journal Monatsschrift Kinderheilkunde at no additional cost and benefit from other professional development opportunities.
Through its committees, networks, regional societies and projects, the DGKJ addresses medical and public health issues affecting children and adolescents. Its public-facing work includes press updates, expert information and resources for parents. The society also contributes to policy discussions and publishes positions on topics such as healthcare reform, nutrition, medicines and child protection.
