The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Zahn-, Mund- und Kieferheilkunde e. V. (DGZMK) is a German scientific association founded in 1859 and one of the country’s oldest organisations in the field of dentistry. It serves as the umbrella body for scientific groups concerned with dental, oral and maxillofacial medicine. The DGZMK coordinates responses to scientific questions raised by politics and society and supports the development of evidence-based guidelines for dental treatment. Promoting research and transferring scientific knowledge into practice are central to its mission.
The organisation provides resources for dental professionals, researchers, students and the public. These include scientific guidelines and concise recommendations, professional and educational events, information on research, and membership services. Its website also offers a dentist search and specialist advice resources on oral mucosal conditions and dental X-ray findings. The DGZMK publishes the Deutsche Zahnärztliche Zeitschrift (DZZ), now available as an online magazine for members, and shares conference research through publications such as abstract collections.
