Diabete – Lucca

Associazione Lucchese Diabetici (ALD) is a nonprofit volunteer organization serving people affected by diabetes in the Lucca area, where it has been active for more than thirty years. Its mission is to foster solidarity and help people share experiences and address the practical and emotional challenges of living with the condition. The association welcomes adults and gives particular attention to young people who may find a new diagnosis difficult to accept.

Through opportunities to meet, talk and exchange opinions, members can learn from others facing similar circumstances and feel less alone. ALD also aims to give people with diabetes a voice and maintain visibility for their needs in social and institutional settings. The organization recognizes that advances in medical knowledge, medicines and blood-glucose monitoring have made day-to-day management more accessible, while emphasizing the value of support alongside clinical care.

By bringing together people with diabetes and their families, ALD offers a community for sharing concerns, questions and positive experiences, and for approaching life with diabetes as a condition to manage
