The Diabetes Research ETS Foundation (DRF), also known as Fondazione per la Ricerca sul Diabete, is a nonprofit organization based in Perugia, Italy. Established in 1995, it supports research into diabetes and works to promote understanding of the disease and its chronic complications. The Foundation has primarily raised and donated funds to the University of Perugia, helping advance research and diagnostic and therapeutic applications for type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
DRF’s research activities focus on developing advanced technologies and potential treatments for type 1 diabetes. In collaboration with the University of Perugia, its projects are conducted at the Laboratory for Endocrine Cell Transplantation and Biohybrid Organs and explore complementary cellular and molecular therapy approaches. The Foundation also produces scientific and educational materials to encourage prevention and good clinical practice for both major types of diabetes.
Alongside research funding, DRF organizes medical education initiatives to share knowledge about diabetes and its complications.
