Dichtbij, also known as Dichtbij Gewoon Geluk, is an organisation in Almelo that provides information, advice, guidance and care. Its work is centred on helping people and families pursue a happier life, even when disability, illness, or social or financial difficulties affect the household. Dichtbij focuses on families with a child with a disability, as well as young adults and older people living with disabilities or illness. The organisation recognises that intensive support services do not always address the deeper, sometimes unspoken needs of those seeking help.

Dichtbij’s approach is guided by the belief that every family member should be able to live as fully as possible and pursue personal ambitions and happiness, despite the challenges faced by someone in the family. Its services include client support, and the organisation shares client experiences to illustrate the different situations in which it offers help. Dichtbij also works with partner organisations toward a happier life in a way that suits each person.
