Stichting Dieren in Rampen (SDIR) is a Dutch foundation established in 2024 to ensure animals receive coordinated assistance during emergencies, disasters and other crises. It brings animal-welfare organisations together with safety regions, government bodies and emergency services, helping make animal care a recognised part of crisis management in the Netherlands. Its collaborating organisations include the Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals, Stichting DierenLot, the Federation of Dutch Animal Ambulances, the International Fund for Animal Welfare and the Dutch Federation of Animal Shelter Organisations.
SDIR strengthens cooperation across a nationwide network of animal ambulances, shelters and other animal-help organisations. Its work includes developing national guidelines, supporting professional animal-rescue deployments, and sharing crisis plans and practical knowledge through an online knowledge portal. The foundation also gathers relevant training and courses and organises its own exercises and training for coordinating animal-aid teams. Through its Dieren in Rampen en Crises programme, SDIR develops project resources and supports preparedness.
