About Digital Watch Observatory
The Digital Watch Observatory is a comprehensive digital policy observatory that serves as a neutral one-stop shop for the latest developments, overviews, events, and resources related to digital governance. Operating as part of the Geneva Internet Platform, which is an initiative of the Swiss authorities, the observatory is managed by DiploFoundation. With a team of over 30 digital policy experts from around the world, the observatory provides a live summary of the latest developments, an overview of issues and actors, a calendar of upcoming events, and access to research and data on internet policy.
It also utilizes quantitative research methods to enrich its content. The observatory covers over 50 digital policy issues, classified under seven baskets including infrastructure, cybersecurity, human rights, legal, economic, development, and sociocultural. The taxonomy used by the observatory was developed by Dr.
Jovan Kurbalija and has been regularly updated to account for emerging trends and new developments. Along with the observatory, the GIP Digital Watch initiative includes a monthly newsletter and briefings on internet governance
