The Digital Freedom Foundation is the driving force behind global events such as Software Freedom Day, Hardware Freedom Day, and Document Freedom Day. Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a global celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), aimed at educating the public on the benefits of utilizing high-quality FOSS in various sectors, including education, government, home use, and business. The foundation coordinates SFD globally, supporting collaboration, while local volunteer teams organize events to impact their communities.

Free Software, endorsed by the foundation, empowers users to share, study, and modify software freely, promoting ethical and political choices. To support these initiatives and events, the foundation relies on sponsors and supporters.
