DigitaltMuseum

DigitaltMuseum is a platform that aims to make extensive and exciting museum collections available to anyone who is interested, regardless of time or place. Traditional exhibitions and books only showcase selected objects, leaving large parts of these collections unseen by the public. With DigitaltMuseum, these previously hidden treasures can now be accessed for image searching, research, education, and knowledge development.

In collaboration with museums, associations, and archive institutions in Norway and Sweden, DigitaltMuseum provides a vast collection of objects and associated information. These objects are obtained from various collection management systems, ensuring a diverse range of content. Each institution is responsible for selecting the objects to be published online, always considering copyright and personal data laws.

Users can explore objects with accompanying descriptions, histories, names, classifications, and references. It's important to note that the information recorded may vary due to different cataloguing traditions and the possibility of additional information held by the institutions. Users are encouraged to contribute their knowledge through the 'Comments' function, improving the information for everyone's benefit.

Accessibility is a priority for DigitaltMuseum, with efforts made to comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. Users can adjust text size through web browser settings or convenient keyboard shortcuts. The platform is continuously evolving, thanks to KulturIT's development and feedback from users.

For questions or comments, users can contact the respective institutions through the 'Comments' function on the object's page. Technical inquiries can be directed to KulturIT. Take a virtual journey through a multitude of museums and explore the wonders of art, history, and culture on DigitaltMuseum.
