Dikkie Dik is a beloved Dutch children’s character, the cheerful orange cat created by author and illustrator Jet Boeke. First seen on television in Sesamstraat on 3 March 1978, Dikkie Dik has since become a familiar part of Dutch culture, delighting toddlers, young children and their families. Jet Boeke has written and illustrated hundreds of stories about his everyday adventures, and millions of books have been sold.
Published by Gottmer since 1983, the range includes picture books, anniversary editions and interactive board books for young readers, with playful features such as sliders, flaps and turning wheels. The stories are also available as an animated feature film, and Dikkie Dik appears in touring theatre productions.
