About Diocese of Brooklyn
The Diocese of Brooklyn is a vibrant and diverse brand that serves the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens. With a rich history tracing back to its founding in 1853, the diocese has been dedicated to meeting the needs of immigrants who sought a better life in America. Today, it continues to be a welcoming home for an immigrant population, particularly Hispanics.
Led by the Most Reverend Robert J. Brennan, the Diocese of Brooklyn encompasses over 176 parishes, 200 churches, and a multicultural community reflected in its 26 different languages used during Mass. The diocese is also home to the seventh-largest Catholic school network in the United States, educating over 18,000 students in 69 elementary schools and academies.
With an average weekly attendance of almost 230,000 faithful, the Diocese of Brooklyn remains committed to fostering a sense of belonging, preserving cultural traditions, and providing a strong foundation for Catholic families
