Diocese of Providence

The Diocese of Providence is the Roman Catholic organization serving communities throughout Rhode Island. Its work brings together parishes, clergy, schools, ministries, and outreach programs to support Catholic life and serve people across the state. The diocese provides resources for worship, faith formation, and spiritual growth, including religious education, Catholic theology courses, sacramental preparation, marriage enrichment, and vocations programs. It also supports Catholic schools and offers programs for children, young adults, families, people with disabilities, and Spanish-speaking and multicultural communities.

Through Catholic Social Services and other ministries, the diocese connects people with food assistance, shelter, immigration and refugee services, support for expectant mothers, elder care, recovery groups, and help with heating costs. Its family and life programs include post-abortion healing and end-of-life guidance. The organization also coordinates Catholic cemeteries, publishes the Rhode Island Catholic newspaper and diocesan news, and hosts events at venues including McVinney Auditorium and Aldrich Mansion. Additional resources include abuse-prevention policies, reporting channels, financial accountability information, and assistance for survivors.
