About Diócesis de Sincelejo
The Diocese of Sincelejo, also known as the Church of Jesus Christ, is a community of faithful Catholics guided by our bishop, priests, and deacons. We are joined by laypeople and consecrated individuals residing throughout the Sucre Department. Established on April 25, 1969, by Pope Paul VI through the Ad Ecclesiam Christi decree, our diocese has been evangelizing for over 49 years.
Our diocese is divided into six regions, known as vicarages, which encompass 52 parishes. These regions include Golfo de Morrosquillo, Sabana, San Jorge, Mojana, Inmaculado Corazón de María, and San Francisco de Asís. With a population of approximately 620,000 baptized individuals, we serve the entire Sucre Department, spread across 26 municipalities.
Our mission is to bear witness to the transformative love of Christ, making a difference in the lives of our community members. Annually, we celebrate approximately 8,372 baptisms, 4,878 first communions, 2,345 confirmations, and 470 marriages.
