The Diocese of Metuchen, located in Piscataway, NJ, is committed to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, celebrating his Sacraments, and carrying out his works of mercy. Established in November 1981, the diocese is led by the Most Reverend James F. Checchio, JCD, MBA, the fifth bishop of the Diocese of Metuchen.

The diocese encompasses Middlesex, Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren counties in New Jersey, serving the people of God in these areas. With a mission to evangelize all people, at all times, and in all places, the Diocese of Metuchen offers a variety of ministries to fulfill this mission. These include educational institutions such as 27 schools (23 elementary and 4 high schools), healthcare and social institutions including health care clinics, charity and justice centers, hospitals, and homes for the aged and handicapped, as well as a strong commitment to promote peace, reconciliation, and justice.

The diocese is dedicated to fostering a spirit of unity and dedication within its community, encouraging vibrant and witnessing faith communities, and deepening liturgical life. Additionally, they prioritize creating and maintaining a safe environment for children and youth and working for global justice and peace.
