About Digital Preclinical Society
The Digital Preclinical Society (DiPS) is a professional society advancing the use and integration of digital preclinical evidence in drug development. It brings together scientists, regulators, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, contract research organizations, academia, technology providers, and standards bodies to strengthen evidence and improve its ability to predict clinical outcomes. DiPS works across animal-based, non-animal, and in-silico approaches, applying a shared, fit-for-purpose standard rather than favoring any single modality.
The society’s work includes defining the field’s terminology, taxonomies, evidence requirements, and regulatory-ready templates; convening stakeholders to collaborate; and publishing open-access educational resources, including handbooks, case studies, benchmark datasets, and foundational papers. Its focus areas include integrating evidence for preclinical decisions, clarifying context-of-use and regulatory confidence, enabling dynamic biological monitoring, and transforming or reusing existing study data. DiPS also supports reusable evidence packages and shared standards for emerging methods and technologies. It does not certify platforms; instead, it aims to establish reference standards and promote evidence that is auditable, reproducible, and relevant to clinically meaningful biology.
