Dirk Vis is an author and educator based in Rotterdam whose work spans fiction, essays, scripts, poetry, and experimental forms of writing. Publishing in Dutch and English, he brings literary and artistic research into conversation, often exploring how people perceive, create, and relate to the natural world. His books include the artistic-research (anti-)manual Research for People Who (Think They) Would Rather Create, the novel Paren of de kunst van de slaapkamer, and the poetry collection Spiritmaking.
His work also appears as chapbooks, animations, performances, websites, video projects, and contributions to literary publications, and has been translated into several languages. This website serves as a living archive of his publications, offering information about available books and selected works that can be read or downloaded online, alongside links to publishers. Vis is a contributing editor of Dutch literary magazine De Gids and teaches writing at Rotterdam’s Piet Zwart Institute and Willem de Kooning Academy, as well as the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague
