About Disappearing Doctors
Disappearing Doctors is a vital initiative aimed at tackling the critical mental health crisis facing physicians. Each year, a million Americans lose their doctors, often due to unexplored mental health struggles exacerbated by burnout and stigma. Launched by FCB Health New York, this coalition of advocates seeks to raise awareness through unique art projects like "The Disposables," which utilizes donated medical materials to honor those lost to suicide while prompting necessary systemic changes in medical licensing.
The initiative collaborates with SERMO, providing a safe, anonymous online space for over 800,000 doctors worldwide to share experiences, discuss mental health issues, and offer mutual support. This platform encourages physicians to open up without fear of professional repercussion. Through various events and ongoing advocacy, Disappearing Doctors is committed to dismantling the barriers that prevent physicians from seeking help, ultimately striving to ensure a healthier future for those who dedicate their lives to healing others.
