DisasterDisplacement

The Platform on Disaster Displacement (PDD) is a State-led initiative working with partners to improve protection for people at risk of displacement, or already displaced, in the context of disasters and climate change. Established in 2016 to follow up on the Nansen Initiative, it supports implementation of the Protection Agenda, which offers guidance for preventing and preparing for displacement and responding when people are forced to seek refuge within their country or across borders. The Platform brings together policymakers, practitioners, researchers, States and other partners to share information, strengthen policy and develop practical approaches.

Its work spans policy coordination, regional cooperation, evidence and data, and public awareness. The PDD also shares research reports, guidance, strategy documents, workplans, news, interviews and event information through its website and newsletter. By filling gaps across policy areas and promoting coordinated action, the Platform helps advance protection and solutions for communities affected by disaster-related displacement
