Discovering Antarctica is a rich source of interactive teaching and learning resources on Antarctica, developed by RGS-IBG in partnership with BAS and supported by UK FCO. One of the fascinating topics covered is glaciers, which are explored in-depth on the platform. Glaciers, the slow-moving rivers of ice, are prominently observed in Antarctica, showcasing their immense power and expanse.
These enormous ice formations are not limited to polar regions but can also be found in various mountain ranges worldwide, including the Equator where Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa boasts glaciers. The platform delves into the differences between the colossal ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica and smaller valley glaciers like those in the Alps. Discovering Antarctica challenges users to test their knowledge about glaciers, shedding light on these majestic natural wonders that play a crucial role in shaping our world
