The Disraeli Project is a scholarly research and publishing initiative devoted to the life and correspondence of Benjamin Disraeli (1804–1881), British Prime Minister and novelist. Founded at Queen’s University in 1975, the project brought together researchers in English, history, and political studies to locate, edit, and publish Disraeli’s letters. Its principal publication is the Benjamin Disraeli Letters series, produced with the University of Toronto Press and recognized for its detailed scholarship and accessible reference format.
The tenth volume, covering 1868, documents the year Disraeli first became Prime Minister and received the Robert Lowry Patten Award in 2016 for outstanding work in nineteenth-century British literary studies. With support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the project also made the complete collection of letters available on an open-access website, without annotations.
The project closed in November 2015 after its grants expired, and work on the planned eleventh volume had begun but was not completed. Its publications and digital archive preserve a valuable resource for readers, critics, and historians
