DLE Berlikum

De Laatste Eer Berlikum is a community funeral association serving members and donors in the village of Berlikum, Friesland. Founded in 1901 from a tradition of neighbours supporting one another, it has developed into a professionally run organisation while retaining its close, personal approach. The association arranges dignified, involved and affordable funerals, led by a professional funeral director and supported in many tasks by volunteers.

It operates without a profit motive. Typical funerals arranged by the association cost approximately €4,500 to €7,000. Members receive an additional membership discount, listed as €1,650 for 2026; donors pay association rates but do not receive this discount or supplier discounts.

For members, supplier discounts are passed on to bereaved families. Arrangements can include care of the deceased, daily checks, transport, pallbearers, a coffin, viewing at home or in the association’s hall, notices, flowers, burial or cremation, ceremony facilities and catering. Families may also carry the coffin themselves
