DLFR (Deutsche Löschflugzeug Rettungsstaffel) represents Polish aviation company MZL in Germany and has coordinated firefighting aircraft exercises and deployments nationwide since April 2023. Its work focuses on supporting fire services in responding to forest and vegetation fires with Dromader M18 aircraft. MZL’s fleet includes 28 aircraft, each able to carry 2,200 litres of water. The aircraft operate from land, can be rapidly refilled by emergency services, and are presented as suitable for initial attacks, aerial monitoring and deployments across Germany.

DLFR coordinates missions, recruits German pilots, arranges aircraft demonstrations and applies for aviation permits. It also advises municipalities and fire departments on whether aerial firefighting is suitable locally, offering a free analysis and information on deployment options, costs and tactics. Its training includes a four-hour course for fire crews on safety, aircraft basics, technology and water loading, available on site or as a shorter theory course. DLFR also aims to expand training, exercises and operational capabilities in collaboration with fire services and helicopter teams.
