Breaking Down Barriers into Martial Arts is a nonprofit association focused on making martial arts accessible to people with disabilities and special needs. Founded in 1990 by Terry Taylor, the initiative aims to bring people together through martial arts, guided by the principle โPeople First, Disability Secondโ and the motto โNever Give Up. โ The organisation is associated with the Institute of Martial Arts & Sciences and Shugenja Kokusai Bujutsu Renmei.
It was taken over by Professor David (Dave) Lee in 2008. Lee founded the Disability Martial Arts Association in 2007 and Tsui-Jitsu Shin Do Ryu Special Needs Martial Arts in 2009.
