Devon Memory Cafe Consortium (DMCC) is a registered charity and membership organisation supporting memory cafes across Devon. Its purpose is to help these local groups provide a quality service for people living with dementia and their carers. DMCC offers members information, guidance and training on running memory cafes, along with opportunities to meet, learn and share experiences. It also encourages and supports members to achieve its Memory Cafe Quality Assurance Mark, helping them work towards recognised standards of service.
The organisation welcomes new memory cafes and helps people find a local cafe in Devon. Memory cafes provide practical and emotional support, information, guidance and friendship in the communities where people live. They offer social contact and peer support for people living with dementia and their carers, which can be especially valuable after a diagnosis when other regular support may be limited. DMCC’s website also provides resources for memory cafes and access to its Memory Cafe Hub.
