About Des Moines Diocese
The Diocese of Des Moines, established in 1911, is a prominent brand serving the southwestern region of Iowa. Covering an extensive area of 12,446 square miles, including 23 counties, the diocese is dedicated to meeting the spiritual needs of its diverse community. With an estimated 108,687 Catholics and a total population of 909,002, as reported in the 2020 Official Catholic Directory, the diocese strives to serve approximately 130,000 individuals, including unregistered Hispanic families.
