The Deutsche Meteorologische Gesellschaft e. V. (DMG) is Germany’s scientific society for meteorology. It works to advance meteorology and physical oceanography and to share meteorological knowledge with professionals and the wider public. Its network includes regional sections across Germany, specialist committees, young members, associated societies, partners, and corporate supporters.

The DMG supports exchange and collaboration through its sections, committees, projects, and conferences. Its specialist areas include biometeorology, energy meteorology, hydrometeorology, environmental meteorology, climate communication, amateur meteorology, and the history of meteorology. The society also provides information for people studying or pursuing careers in meteorology, including study resources, a university overview, and internship and job listings.

For members and the public, the DMG offers publications such as its newsletter, a meteorological calendar, and the Meteorologische Zeitschrift – Contributions to Atmospheric Sciences. It publishes statements and press information, shares educational materials, and produces the “Windstärke 12” podcast. Its recognition and awards include distinctions for contributions to meteorology, alongside procedures for recognizing consulting meteorologists.
