Des Moines TUBACHRISTMAS is a local celebration of seasonal music, bringing together low brass players and audiences for a distinctive holiday concert. The event features a mass low brass choir whose combined sound is described as rich and organ-like, performing familiar Christmas carol melodies. Its format is welcoming and participatory: performers of all ages and skill levels can take part, with a walk-in rehearsal before the concert and time for lunch in between.
For 2025, the Des Moines event is scheduled for Saturday, December 20, with a free concert at 3 p. m. in the Performing Arts Hall at the Harmon Fine Arts Center, 2505 Carpenter Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa.
The website provides information for performers, pre-registration, event details, a store, and an archive of past TUBACHRISTMAS gatherings dating back to 2004–05. Des Moines TUBACHRISTMAS offers a community-focused way to enjoy holiday music and gives low brass musicians an opportunity to play together in a large ensemble
