DMZ

The DMZ Ecology Research Institute is dedicated to healing the wounds of division while fostering an appreciation for nature. Established over two decades ago, the institute focuses on the unique biodiversity of the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a historically conflicted area now serving as a sanctuary for various species. The team diligently records and studies local wildlife every week, emphasizing the significance of these organisms in bridging cultural and ideological divides.

With a mission centered on research, education, and community engagement, the DMZ Ecology Research Institute offers a range of services including ecological schools, youth exploration programs, and extensive research collaboration opportunities. Their activities promote environmental awareness and underscore the importance of preserving this vital ecosystem. The institute serves as a hub for knowledge, allowing visitors to explore galleries showcasing birds, plants, insects, and more, while actively participating in initiatives that cultivate a peaceful coexistence with nature. Through its ongoing endeavors, the research institute aims to instill a sense of environmental stewardship among future generations.
