About DNK
The Deutsches Nationalkomitee für Denkmalschutz (DNK) serves as a prominent forum and platform dedicated to the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage across Germany. With a commitment to safeguarding buildings of artistic, industrial, and archaeological significance, as well as garden and landscape heritage, DNK actively engages with various societal levels to ensure these treasures are valued and maintained for future generations.
Established to counter the risks associated with post-war modern development, the DNK has played a pivotal role in raising awareness about the importance of our cultural and natural heritage since the European Heritage Year in 1975. The organization highlights the impact of unchecked growth on cultural assets and advocates for policies that protect these valuable resources.
In addition to its preservation efforts, DNK annually awards the German Prize for Monument Protection, recognizing individuals and groups for their exceptional contributions to understanding and preserving monuments.
